Banksy

I haven’t seen many of Banksy’s works “live”, but this one in Newman Street, W1 was one of my favourites. Simple and effective. I say “was” because it is no more. Whoever owns this wall has obviously decided that subversive political messages have no place on their property.

Blanksy

Of course, if the mural was painted without permission then it is just as much “criminal damage” as removing one which was painted with the owner’s consent. But I have to say that if I owned a wall and woke up one morning to find a thoughtful art work on it, I would be rather pleased. I wonder if Banksy ever works South of the River…

The next logical step for Banksy to take would be to start painting walls in block colours with just a signature in the corner, don’t you think? :)

Do these fools know what they have done ?

Banksy is a modern genius.

And was the person responsible (allegedly the genius Banksy)caught on CCTV? Probably not, when one considers the stats we were recently treated to. I hate law `enforcement` by camera. Society itself, whoever we are, should police itself far more than it does. In very olden days of old when knights were old, a bad person would be ousted by the community, or sanctions applied, until the bad behaviour moderated or they were run out of town. No one wants viggi vigill mob rule, but we can’t go on expecting an ever diminishing police force and weak justice system to disappear up their own arses while the rest stand by looking the other way.

Or is it me?
