How many shades of hypocrisy are there?

He was only speeding, ect. At least he didn’t turn a blind eye to child abuse at the national broadcaster or whatever.

“Going to jail is a fairly small bit of the total penalty. What was really painful was losing the one job I really wanted to do. Climate change is something I care passionately about.

FFS.

Asked about the jailing of his former cabinet colleague, Prime Minister David Cameron* said: “It’s a reminder that no-one, however high and mighty, is out of the reach of the [*] justice system.”

And a spokesman for Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg* said: “As Nick has said, this is a personal tragedy for Chris, Vicky and their families.

“After their sentences are served, Nick hopes that they will both be given the time and space to rebuild their lives.”

**

The judge said that, unless released earlier under supervision, the pair would each serve half of their eight-month sentences.

* fucking pathetically useless
** You mean like your old sparring partners of the early 1990s were? You sanctimonious shithead

    The sentence is enough. The problem is what the political establishment thinks and if it doesn’t feel in its heart of hearts that this is a real crime. Or worse. If they view things through a prism whereby senior politicians (members of their own) ARE above the law.

    Judging by the comments made by senior politicians (notably Paddy Ashdown) about ‘tragedy’ it would seem so. They really are a different species.

    They’ve had to take a casualty this time round – but a censored press, arrest of journalists without charge – ditto police officers who speak to journalists – secrect courts, super injunctions and jury-less trials will change all of this in the next ten years.

      PS – This at a time when we should be questionning why we need our own political establishment at all.

      They all advocate closer European Union – the outsourcing of their work to Brussels… and then claim “It’s the EU” when they tell us they can’t eject terrorists or give us anything like the politics we want.

      Yet when miners’, steel workers’ and call center workers’ duties were outsourced they were told they weren’t needed and put on the dole.

      We have become a society run for the politicians – not for the people.
