Can anyone spot the flaw in this?

Hello!

Would you like to be rewarded for recycling?

We’re pleased to let you know that from 16th May 2011 you can take part in an exciting, new and FREE Council recycling programme that will reward you with Recyclebank Points. These points can be redeemed for special offers and discounts in local shops, cafes, restaurants and leisure facilities. It doesn’t matter how you currently recycle – just recycle as much as you can!

Everyone wants to be environmentally friendly, but it’s nice to know that your green efforts are being appreciated. Simply let us know every week you recycle, and we’ll reward you with 10 Recyclebank Points each time. The points can then be used for a fantastic selection of rewards.

Once you’ve registered, there are several quick and easy ways to keep us updated on your weekly recycling:

- Visit Recyclebank.com
- Use the Recyclebank iPhone app
- Call us on 0800 409 9590

It’s that simple. And you’ll also receive extra points each month based on the amount of recycling collected throughout the Borough.

Take a look at the enclosed leaflet to find out more about how Recyclebank can reward you and the environment. It also contains a handy recycling checklist to stick up in your kitchen.

Kind regards,

Lambeth Council & Recyclebank

P.S. Don’t forget to recycle me!

    It’ll encourage binge drinking?

    Yes.

Now, can I make more from submitting fake recycling claims, or from offering my services to Lambeth Council? Hmm…

Apart from the link to a web page that doesn’t exist, it looks like a great scheme. You send your personal details to a corporation in Pennsylvania, USA, and they charge local shops, cafes, restaurants and leisure facilities for the use of your details to send you junk mail, texts and spam. You can recycle the junk mail to get even more points.

Recycling rewarded with … points that enable you to consume more ?

    FFS.

I think the old system of bottle deposits and chippies using newspaper (or us wiping our arses on it) was far more honest and realistic.

Apparently Patently is the only one who isn’t just as naive as the councillors of Lambeth…

Best idea I’ve seen recently is a village down south wesst, where they make a communal compost heap, and sell it all on at a profit.

It saves the council collecting it, and gives them a few quid back to spend on amenities.

Hope there’s no Japanese Knotweed in it though…
